Announcing Visual Connections New York Image Expo & Sessions
Visual Connections (formerly Picturehouse Marketing US) will be hosting its annual Image Expo at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York on October 13th. This is a unique one-day event for image buyers, researchers, designers, art directors, and other users of images and footage to discover new sources of imagery, including niche and overseas agencies; network with peers; enjoy complimentary refreshments, including wine and beer after 5pm; and win fabulous prizes donated by exhibitors. The event also offers a great learning opportunity: Visual Connections has partnered with PACA (the trade organization representing picture agencies in North America), PicScout (developer of image recognition fingerprinting technology), FootageInfo.com (provider of footage consultancy services) , the American Society of Picture Professionals, and Art Directors Club (“whose mission is to connect, provoke and elevate creative visual communications professionals around the world”), to create an exciting program of sessions, tailored to feedback from image buyers.
Young Photographers Alliance Honors Another Six Talented Young Photographers
Young Photographers Alliance (YPA), a 501(c)3 educational foundation dedicated to developing the talent of young photographers, has awarded six scholarship awards to talented young photographers from across the US. This year scholarships have been generously funded by ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers), APA (Advertising Photographers of America), Alamy (stock photo agency), Jerry Tavin (YPA Founder), and Photolibrary (stock photo and footage agency). Awards will be presented at the YPA Annual Awards Ceremony and Benefit Auction in New York City on October 12th, 7-10pm, by some of the country’s finest photographers, including Eric Meola and Doug Menuez.

Five Scholarship Recipients Honored at Young Photographers Alliance Awards Ceremony
The Young Photographers Alliance (YPA) celebrated its first ever awards ceremony in style on October 13th in New York City. Over 150 people, including heads of stock agencies and industry organizations, renowned photographers, and other significant professionals in the world of photography witnessed the honoring of five promising students of photography, selected through the Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship Program: Julianne Jamora (School of Visual Arts), Khrystyna Chekhlata (Pratt Institute), Bonnie Rae Mills (Academy of Arts University), Shannon Soule (Ringling College of Art and Design) and Nicole Nolan (Pratt Institute).
Visual Connections Celebrates Success with New Venue and Revamped Format
Image buyers flocked to the Metropolitan Pavilion on October 14th to hear respected author and digital media attorney Nancy Wolff talk on “Copyright/Copywrong”, and to enjoy the ninth annual stock industry networking event in New York City. Educational seminars and discussion groups, held throughout the day and covering topics as diverse as search tools and career reinvention, provided lively discussion and further networking opportunities. Statistical breakouts show strong interest in all aspects of the business – stills, footage, search services and production/assignment – with attendees comprised mainly of advertising and design, magazine and newspaper and publishing professionals.

Papilio wildlife photo library is launching a new high-res downloadable and full e-commerce website at the forthcoming Picturehouse in New York on 14th October 2009. This new re-branded web site will have a full interactive search facility for clients to log in and find relevant images, create lightboxes, save different searches, price on-line for specific usage requirements or set up an account for either negotiated prices or have a subscription account. It also has an interactive area for contributing photographers to upload their images direct, amend and apply metadata and keywords and view forthcoming sales reports.

New Bluegreen Website Goes Live
After months of meticulous preparation, the new Bluegreen website www.bluegreenpictures.com has recently launched and is already proving to be a great success with clients. The clean new design, fast search and download, and varied galleries make the site supremely user-friendly. The Bluegreen collection was acquired by Nature Picture Library last year, when it relocated to our Bristol premises.
